Don’t miss this 10Q Webinar featuring the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), 2018 Air Medical Program of the Year.

Carilion Clinic Patient Transportation (CCPT) is a private, hospital-based ambulance system, operating in Southwestern Virginia. CCPT was formed in 1986 and currently has a fleet of 42 ambulances stationed at six ground bases and one primary 911/EMS base. All ambulances are staffed and equipped as Advanced Life Support (ALS). We also have a dedicated neonatal-pediatric transport team. Our rotor wing service (Carilion Clinic Life-Guard) operates out of three air bases in partnership with our aviation vendor Med-Trans. Carilion Clinic Life-Guard, established in 1981, was the first air medical program in Virginia. Carilion Clinic Life-Guard was proudly named the AAMS program of the year in 2018 and is CAMTS accredited. We operate our own Communication/Dispatch Center, which is co-located with our hospital-based Transfer Center.

Presenting for this edition of 10Q30 is Krista Henderson, Senior Director of CCPT. Krista has been with Carilion Clinic for 29 years and all of which has been in Emergency Services. After graduating from Radford University with her BSN, Krista started as an RN in the Emergency Department for Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH). CRMH is a Magnet designated 703-bed hospital that includes a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Carilion Children’s Hospital, and the region’s only Level I Trauma Center. After 5 years in the ED, she was hired as a flight nurse for Carilion Clinic Life-Guard and later promoted to Team Lead, where she served for nearly 10 years. She left Life-Guard to accept a new position for the Trauma Service as a Performance Improvement Coordinator, where she developed the quality and research programs for the Service. During this time, Krista obtained her MSN from Jefferson College of Health Sciences. Krista missed the transport environment and returned to CCPT in 2011 for a new position as the Performance Improvement Coordinator/Safety Officer. In 2012, she was promoted to Senior Director providing leadership to our air, ground, and EMS teams. Currently, Krista is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and a Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE).
