You ARE a Gift!
The Season
This season is a busy time! If you’re all like all of us, we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to find that perfect gift, at the perfect price for that special someone.
The holiday season is also a time to reflect.
As we warmly think of loved ones—present and past—we take time to reflect on the value of life and how precious and fleeting it is.
Think about what you do…
This will be our last blog post for the year. Since we anchor this space on a Friday, the next two Fridays we’ll all be enjoying family and friends celebrating the miracle of new birth and the promise that a new year brings and so we’ll take a bit of a break in our weekly discussions.
During that time, we’d ask that you take time to sit back and think about what you do day-in and day-out. Reflect on the true gift that you and your Fire/EMS brothers and sisters are to the communities that you all serve.
Truly Amazing!
Your feats of bravery and heroism are truly amazing.
Have you taken time to think about how many Christmas or New Years’ celebrations will be complete this year because of a life that you have been instrumental in saving? What you have accomplished for those families is most definitely the greatest gift they will have received.
Your skills and expertise weren’t even something extraordinary. It’s all just part of what you do each day. Your work…your profession stands in the balance between life and death. You sign-on each day to make a profound difference in the lives that you touch with your healing hands.
In our opinion, there’s no greater representation of what this season is truly about then that.
Your Life Poured into Their Life
We know that you make sacrifices. You pour your life into the lives of other people.
While most people go to work to earn a paycheck and get through the day, you not only earn a living but you do so by making a difference. You make a profound difference.
Sure there are those days when it all seems mundane. You know, another person calling upon you when they really didn’t require your skills. Those seemingly unending routine transports and those days when you’re so busy you barely have time to go to the bathroom or eat a decent meal wear on you.
We understand and we sympathize.
Remember, your billing office reads all of those patient care reports you prepare. We sometimes are amazed at what you have accomplished. We celebrate lives save with you and we mourn with you over those lives that were beyond all human efforts to revive.
We understand how nasty trauma scenes, scary scenarios involving the very young and sad tales of the very old impact you in the quiet times. But, you and who you are absorb that and press through to do it all over again tomorrow.
You are truly amazing.
Thank you!
So from all of us to all of you; we say a huge THANK YOU!
You ARE a true gift. Probably the best gift that any community can ask for. So, take time over the next two weeks to reflect on how very important you are to those who are hurting.
From all of us in your billing office….Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year!!
